Why I’m NOT Promoting Traffic Secrets 2

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

The following is a copy of the email I sent out this afternoon concerning the launch of “Traffic Secrets 2″

I thought for a long time this morning about whether to write down and send out my thoughts or not… but in the end, I feel I owe it to those newer than I to the online world. In a nutshell… you don’t need Traffic Secrets 2!
Is it any good? I’m sure it is. I’m sure it is top quality. But in my opinion, for 400 bucks, most people don’t need it. I haven’t bought it; and I won’t be. Will my web traffic dry up and blow away like dust? I doubt it. And here’s why…
Most of the traffic secrets are not secrets. They are ideas and techniques that we all know about however as with most things online, 99.9% of those who have this knowledge will never use it.Let me emphasize that…

“99.9% of those who have this knowledge will never use it”

Here are the secrets…

  • Research
  • Know your competition and what they are doing
  • Know your market and what they are buying
  • Use every available source of traffic you can find…
    • Social bookmarking sites
    • Article sites
    • Squidoo Lens
    • Forums
    • Networking sites (also social networking)
  • Use every available F.ree tool you can find and only buy the tools you know you will 100% use and understand.

Will I get 1 million visitors this month?

No I will get the usual about 300K – 400K combined. (On that note – let me remind you that I started my sites less than 2 years ago with no money and didn’t buy into any expensive programs) I just worked my butt off.

So there it is.

Next week I am going to start a new series of videos on the different things I do everyday, what tools I use and how I use them. I’ll give you an inside look at exactly how I get traffic to my sites; how I decide what I will promote; how I setup the sites; everything…

and the cost? Nothing. Ziltch… Nada. :)

Have a great day and remember… all those hype emails about Traffic Secrets 2 – just right click and select ‘delete’

Best regards,

Joseph Murray

Ps: What? No links?

Nope – no links. Just watch for those videos next week – keep an eye on new titles for you to promote on $7 Dollar Books – and enjoy your summer.

  1. I have seen the videos of John Reese’s and learned from them, but the cost is a factor for me. I am not sure that his program would truly benefit at this point.
I do look forward to your videos that will start next week. In the meantime, I will continue searching for my niche and give my hard drive a good air dusting. I have many things on it that I can sell, and it needs a good organizing to find what I want when I need it. (That could be a good niche)
Having the right tools are great, but knowing the hows and whys of their use would be even greater knowledge.
Setting up my site has been a issue for me. Just when I think I “got it”, I feel I am missing something, so I keep retracing what I need to do.
    Looking forward to your help,
    Sally

  2. Hi Sally,

Thank you for the comment. I really appreciate that you shared your position. A lot of people are in the same situation. I know because I was there myself. That’s why I am happy to help out if I can.

Deciding on what tools you need will be based 100% on the kind of marketing you will focus on. There are many… many different ways of marketing… as I said in my post. For someone to try to do all of them would be spreading your time to thin and thus will hurt your efforts overall.

I do a lot with articles and writing in general so I have one of the best article writing tools available. It’s not a free one, but is well worth the small investment. You’ll see it in the videos.

With that said, the first thing for someone just starting out, or changing direction, is to determine which direction you will take. Make a plan, write it down, and stick to it. If you can do that, you will succeed… and once you become focused and determined, it will be much easier to figure out what tools you need and which ones you don’t.

I get all the same emails with offers as everyone else… maybe more as I subscribe to a lot of lists because I need to know where the market is going. However I very seldom buy or promote any of the ‘best thing since sliced bread’ new releases because for the most part, they do not do anything different that what I already have.

    This will come with experience.

Again, thank you for the comment and I’m looking forward to hearing more from you as I get the videos out.

    Cheers,

    Joseph
